Created in 1895 by philanthropist James Walker Tufts as a Southern resort, Pinehurst Resort now

The United States Golf Association has selected Pinehurst to host both the U.S. Open and U.S.
Women’s Open Championships in successive weeks in 2014, both on the legendary Donald Ross
